Anyone having an issue with their uploads for posts? A recent one of mine is not really sharp and there is a strange pixalation top right in the sky area. I have checked my original and its fine so I reloaded it but the same problem as before remains.

Hi Brenda,

Your issue with image upload quality is not new. I've read several comments about this issue over the years.

The file upload system for FAR is JPG, as you already know. JPG is, by design, a compression algorithm. Every time you close a JPG file the compression algorithm removes pixels it thinks are not needed. Repeatedly opening and closing a JPG file over time the image quality will degrade. Pixelation, lines, and soft images are some of the symptoms of JPG compression deterioration.

To avoid this either shoot in TIF or RAW and convert to JPG at postproduction to send to FAR.

FAR has an upload maximum of <1.5 G-Bytes, that ain't much.

If JPG is the only format you have then I would make a copy of the finished photo and save it. Use the saved copy to send to FAR.

Hope that helps... Bob
